Draw a quick sketch straight into an email

5 October 2026 · searched as draw a sketch in an email

Some things are quicker drawn than described: a layout, a process, where the door goes. MailCode has a sketchpad in the composer — shapes, arrows, flowchart blocks and dimension lines to a scale you set — and the drawing goes into the mail as one picture.

How to do it

  1. In the composer, click the Sketch button in the format bar.
  2. Pick a tool: pen, line, arrow, rectangle, circle, text, the flowchart shapes, or a dimension. Shapes snap to the grid and to each other’s corners and midpoints.
  3. Set the scale under 1 square = — say 0.5 m — and dimension lines label themselves. Double-click one and type a length to resize the shape.
  4. Click Insert. The sketch goes into the mail as a sharp picture on white.
MailCode: The sketchpad: a floor plan with dimension lines at 1 square = 0.5 m.

Save as note keeps the drawing in Notes with every shape still editable, and Copy puts it on the clipboard for any other app. Escape never closes the pad by accident; Cancel asks first.
