Reply quoting only the part you are answering

5 October 2026 · searched as reply quoting only part of email

Answering one question in a long mail, you rarely want the whole thing quoted back. Select the part you are answering before you reply, and MailCode quotes only that.

How to do it

  1. In the reading pane, select the passage you are answering.
  2. Click Reply (or Reply All, or Forward). MailCode asks Reply — what to quote.
  3. Keep Only the selected text. Pictures inside the selection come with it.
  4. Leave Include the original message header ticked for the From / Date / Subject block above the quote, or untick it to send the excerpt on its own — your choice is remembered.
MailCode: Reply — what to quote: only the selected text, or the whole message.
Reply — what to quote: only the selected text, or the whole message.

With nothing selected, Reply quotes the whole message as usual, and selecting nearly all of it asks nothing. In the composer the quote bar’s header / no header switch adds or removes the header block afterwards.
