Send a meeting invitation from a Gmail or iCloud account

5 October 2026 · searched as send calendar invite from imap account

Most mail apps can only send a real meeting invitation from Exchange. MailCode sends one from Gmail, iCloud, Fastmail or any account with a calendar: the meeting goes into your calendar, and everyone invited gets an invitation they can accept in their own.

How to do it

  1. Make sure the account has a calendar: a Gmail account added with Sign in with Google has one; for iCloud and others, Settings ▸ Accounts ▸ ✎ Edit ▸ 📅 Find calendars.
  2. Open Calendar and click + New. With more than one account, pick it under From.
  3. Fill in the subject, date, time and Required Attendees; add a location, a Teams link or an agenda if you like.
  4. Click Send Invite →. The status reads Event added — invitation emailed.

Invitees get an ordinary calendar invitation by mail — Outlook, Gmail and Apple Calendar all show Accept and Decline — and their answers come back to you by mail. Dragging the meeting to a new time later mails everyone the change. Meeting reminders are still Exchange-only.
